Rare Original Tonka Truck Jeep Gold Plated Award Lynn Baker Vintage Trophy Steel
eBay This Gold Plated Tonka Truck was given to Lynn Baker a.k.a. Mr. Tonka. It has a nameplate on the front with his name on it. Only a few of these were ever customized, and only this particular Truck had Bakers name on it. Lynn Baker was one of the founders of the Tonka brand. He passed away in 1964 after which most of his Tonka collection was disbursed and disbanded. This particular truck was, as stated by his grand-daughter, sitting on Lynn Bakers personal desk. I came across this truck after purchasing a storage unit that went to auction due to non-payment. The owner of this unit was a girlfriend of Fred Baker, Lynn Bakers son. I have pictures of the two together as well as documentation of the owner of the storage unit. This truck went missing for many years after the passing of Mr.Tonka. This is an AMAZING piece of Tonka and pressed steel history. This could quite possibly be the apex of a Tonka guru’s collection! There were other types of salesman awards, such as the Gold Plated Volkswagen Beetle, that were given to executives and board members. Lynn Baker owned some of these as well. This Gold Plated Jeep Tonka Truck might be the ONLY piece, of this style, that has Lynn Baker’s name on it. An extraordinary piece, for sure!! Some paperwork was also found within the storage unit that must have been in possession of Fred Baker. I have a Tonka quarterly report from the 60s stating the board members shares of Tonka stock and its value. I do not have any documentation proving the authenticity of this truck other than messages from the grand-daughter and other Tonka enthusiasts whom knew the family and identified the Truck right away. I do have the possession lineage to show where it came from. Documentation of the owner of the storage unit, photos of this owner with Lynn Bakers son, Fred… stories from family members stating that Lynn Baker’s son took possession of this truck after Lynn’s passing, and then messages from a family member stating this truck sat on Lynn Baker’s desk. Vtg "ACE STORES" DeSalle Pressed Steel Tonka & Pup Trailer Low # Autographed COA
Don DeSalle reproduced some of the iconic Tonka trucks from their day in very limited quantities. Here you have "Ace Stores" truck with the matching pup trailer. The certificate of authenticity for the truck states "First Series Edition." The truck is #40 out of 300 produced and this is stamped on the underside. The pup trailer is much more limited with only 150 produced and this is also stamped #40 on the underside. Both pieces are autographed by Don DeSalle on the undersides, as well. The certificate of authenticity for the truck has a raised corporate seal in the corner containing the year 1992. The underside of the pup trailer has the year '95 signed next to Don DeSalle's autograph. This set is from a private collection, never played with, nor displayed; only taken out of the boxes a handful of times to show people. The rear mudflap on the passenger side has lost some of the white adhesive letters to the "DeSalle" name, but you can still see the letters in a faint black (see photo). Also, in three corner areas near the opening and closing hinges of the rear doors to the truck, I can see tiny spots where the red paint is missing (see photo with the three green lines noting the spots). The outer brown boxes have writing and tape on them for they were used as the original shipping boxes back then. Upon shipping to the new owner, I will place the truck and pup trailer with their accompanying boxes into one large shipping box. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

This vintage farm set from 1961 features vehicles from Tonka. The set is made from durable pressed steel and comes in a classic tan/white color scheme. It includes everything needed to create a fun farm scene and is sure to be a hit with collectors and toy enthusiasts alike. The set is mint in box making it a rare find for any collector.The box list the No. 2120 Farm Set which is a 1962 model number. There’s no way to confirm whether this was a Tonka or Retailer packaging anomaly.There is some yellowing on the whitewalls and some minor blemishes on the horse trailer from age. The cow is a black plastic which was included in the 1962 set, the 1961 Look Book shows a white cow. The horses are missing from this set. One of the flaps on the box is off but still in the box. This vintage vehicle is just one of a number of pressed steel and similar vehicles I will be listing this week. I always combine shipping for multiple auction winners so please take a look at my other auctions and save on shipping CONDITION NOTES: This rare set comes with all three vehicles in excellent condition showing only the most limited wear and all in the original "Tonka Apartments" Hi-Rise box! The vehicles have light surface marks here and there and the only "significant" wear I found was on the right side of the white tanker which has a spot of oxidation, as you can see. Otherwise, the vehicles are as nice as I have seen with all of their accessories in excellent condition too! The main box has age related discoloration and a few minor issues but it certainly ads to the display of the set! Keep an eye on this rare set for late bids! DESCRIPTION: This is a rare example of the Tonka 1956 No. 5 Fire Pumper made with bullet taillights. The regular 1956 Tonka Pumper did not have these taillights when sold to the public. There were only 100 of this version made in 1956 for Tonka Salesmen. MATERIALS: Pressed steel truck with rubber tires and hoses; and diecast hose reel, other trim, and fire hydrant DIMENSIONS: The overall length is 17”. CONDITION: EXCELLENT CONDITION – BARELY PLAYED WITH, IF EVER. There is just a bit of aging with storage for nearly 70 years! The hydrant has some paint chips. This may be one of the best-known examples left of this rare truck! It is the best of the best when it comes to collectible Tonka Toys and would be the pinnacle of most pressed steel car and truck collections ALWAYS CHECK MY LISTINGS FOR OTHER INTERESTING ITEMS!
